A person who laced treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was taken into custody after eight children and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the court.

She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.

The defendant played a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".

She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.

The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They decided to examine in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC said items including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepson alerted the police about his concerns.

She stated the man went on to conduct the "candy game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"The police had not arrived by that time," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the events.

The prosecutor stated the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member contacted the authorities a second time.

She explained the man then played the "candy game" in a area of five children.
